structure & body

In the "Structure & Body" project, teams collaboratively engineered a bamboo structure destined for the Kebun farm at PSJ14, adhering to stringent criteria. The challenge: design a functional, ergonomic creation fitting a 8m cubed space to cultivate mushrooms. Shroom Shack is a bamboo structure prototype designed to cultivate oyster mushrooms. Many factors were considered for  building this structure, such as temperature and  humidity control, cross ventilation and light shelter from sun. Through thorough research, it was immediately evident that the structure had to be enclosed to meet suitable requirements for the oyster mushrooms. The structure uses all hand tying manila rope to secure the bamboo structure together for strength and black netting to encourage water catchment, light blockage,  heat insulation and indirect cooling.
